Funding Overview
We receive government funding to help families with the cost of childcare. This is available based on your child’s age and eligibility, and can be allocated in two ways:
-
Term Time Only (38 weeks): 15 or 30 funded hours per week
-
All-Year Round (51 weeks): 11 or 22 funded hours per week
How Fees Are Calculated
To keep things fair and simple, we work out an hourly rate:
Daily Rate: £84
Hours Open: 10.5 hours per day
Hourly Rate: £84 ÷ 10.5 = £8 per hour
Example Invoice Calculation
1⃣ Full Cost Before Funding
Full-day session: £84
Attending 2 days a week = £168
2⃣ Minus Government Funding
Funded hours: 22 hours per week
£8 x 22 hours = £176 deducted
3⃣ Add Enrichment Fee
Enrichment fee: £2.50 per hour
£2.50 x 22 hours = £55 added
4⃣ Final Invoice Example
Weekly total after funding & fees: £47
What Does the Enrichment Fee Cover?
Our weekly voluntary enrichment fee helps support the high-quality care we pride ourselves on. While government funding contributes towards core childcare hours, it does not cover key elements such as nappies, wipes, cleaning supplies, cooking ingredients, educational resources, staff training, rent, or utilities. Your contribution helps bridge that gap, ensuring we can maintain a nurturing and enriching environment for every child.
This fee also covers future resources, exciting activities, and extracurricular experiences. Notably, it includes access to our mini bus, which allows children to attend Forest School day trips and other off-site adventures - at no additional cost to parents. These kinds of trips are often charged separately by other settings, but we’re proud to offer them as part of our enriched learning experience.
Government Funding and Eligibility
Under the Early Education and Childcare Statutory Guidance, government funding provides 15 or 30 hours of free childcare per week for eligible children aged 3 and over. This funding covers basic childcare only and does not include meals, extra hours, consumables, or additional services.
Term-time only places are available exclusively for children aged 3 and above. All eligible 3- and 4-year-olds can access the universal 15 hours, and families who meet the criteria can also apply for the extended 15 hours (totaling 30 hours). Preschool sessions run for five days per week, term time only.
